beginning: |
PARAMPARA was conceived with an idea to merge individual profit
motive and entrepreneurship, with sustainability of crafts, and
most important, the livelihoods of the crafts persons.
Export
documentation of a small order [440 us $] for USA provided a window
of opportunity for launching PARAMPARA. PARAMPARA was conceptualized
as a socially committed business, with the philosophy of reinvesting
in the craft and people in November 2000. Building partnerships
and capitalizing on synergy of these partnerships is one of the
core values of PARAMPARA. Rather then reinventing the wheel, PARAMPARA
believes in co-ordination and focusing on its core competency of
marketing; with backup support of product and design development,
technical up gradation, skills enhancement and organizing critical
mass of artisans coming from other organization and institutes.
Transparency, integrity, social responsiveness and profitability
are guiding principles of PARAMPARA.
PARAMPARA hope to instill a sense of pride in hand made products
and producers in the state of Rajasthan.
PARAMPARA
supports the artisans working in state of Rajasthan (both from rural
areas and Urban slums) and strives to provide them fair and incremental
income on sustainable basis. PARAMPARA operates from a small 20x10
Ft garage room and a small warehouse in suburban Jaipur. Keeping
the overheads at the minimum, critical functions like quality checking
and packing are done at the warehouse and in time of emergency some
other functions are outsourced. PARAMPARA is staffed by One full
time professional and two full time employees, part time employees
are hired when need arises.

Mr.
Vishal Choudhary, 25, is CEO of PARAMPARA.
After completing his Master of Business Administration (MBA), he
joined an. Export firm as a marketing executive and looked at the
marketing, sourcing and documentation functions for 1 years. Since
then, he is managing the operations of PARAMPARA.

PARAMPARA
believes in forging long lasting relationships with clients. Providing
quality, cost effective and specialized services to buyers forms
the foundation of PARAMPARA marketing philosophy. At times this
involves providing write-ups and getting printing done in India
thus saving some of the expenses of marketing by buyers. We try
to work as backend office of the buyers. PARAMPARA

Intiatives to know more.
PARAMPARA has provided export documentation and management assistance
to Vasundhra Gramuthaan Samiti, (UMBVS) in 2002-2003 and current
financial year.
Currently, we are working closely with UNIDO, National Institute
of Fashion Technology (NIFT) and some other grass roots organizations
in Kota (southeastern Rajasthan) to revive an age old weaving cluster
of Kota Doria. The project aims to provide technical, design, management
and marketing support to weavers, in order to provide an incremental
and regular income to weavers, along with preserving the tradition
PARAMPARA has conduced management development and market sensitization
program for the skill up gradation project of Udyogini (an NGO based
at New Delhi) in Bikaner district of Rajasthan,
supported by ICCO- Interchurch organization for development cooperation
Netherlands . One hundred and fifty women, traditionally skilled
in embroidery and patchwork, are involved in the project.
